My laptop freezes almost every time I go on-line. On rare ocassions, it will work flawlessly. 90% of the time, especially when I'm trying to download a patch or any other software. The download will start, and make it 10% or maybe 60%. When it freezes, I can't move the pointer. I get messages like,"can't find server","program not responding",windows has encountered a problem and has to shut down",windows has recovered from a serious error",Problem caused by hardware device driver","connection dormant". I use verizon wireless pc card. I've reinstalled program, reinstalled drivers, etc..All my hardware seems to show its working fine. When I run the wireless card in my old laptop, it works fine. Company will not respond to my request for help. I paid almost $4000 for this unit, and its been the most "UNPLEASURABLE" purchase I have ever made!! Can anyone please help me??? Thanks, Jeff

Hi jmuss,

If your laptop runs everything else 100% and this is your only problem with it, I would try switching out your Belkin card-hopefully you have a separate card and not integrated with the mainboard. No guarantee, but it sound like either a bad card or a conflict with it and/or the drivers. These type of random freezes are really hard to trace, and you just have to continue trying things in order until you find the cause.

Thanks for the help! But I'm pretty sure my wireless mini-pc 802 network adapter is built in. I also ocassionally experience windows shutting down unexpectedly because of an issue with a hardware device driver. When I go to hardware devise manager, everything looks normal? jeff hairup.gif

Hi Jeff, welcome to SAF

If you reinstalled Windows, make sure you reinstalled the motherboard/chipset drivers, as Windows generic drivers may cause some weird things depending on your hardware.

Try to connect to the internet using a cat5 cable as well, to see what happens. Wireless networks may have some connection problems if not properly set or if the signal is weak.

Finally, I would strongly suggest you to check for virus/baddies. Some symptoms points to this.

- Download and run CrapCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/
Note: in CCleaner: go to <options/advanced> Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours").

- If possible, Run updated versions of Spybot S&D and AdAware SE (one at a time), cleaning all that may be listed.
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
AdAware - http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
(remember to update databases before scanning and to set Spybot to Imunize your system)

- Perform an online virus scan from http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan

Next, take a look at this pinned topic and post a HijackThis log here along with the Panda scan log, as we can take a look at them: http://www.suggestafix.com/index.php?showtopic=16053
