Hi, I am new, so please bear with me. My computer recently became infected with Smithfraud and SpySherriff. I followed all the steps layed out to me on various forums for deleting the registry keys and malicious files. Since being infected, I have not been allowed to place images on my desktop at all in any format. I haven't checked to see if the browser was also still being hijacked because if this first part (desktop) hasn't been fixed, I doubt my machine is "runing clean". I have noticed a recurring step in my startup in msconfig under win.ini that always returns after I delete it. I understand that in order to streamline this process I need to attach a log here of some sort. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I need to know what to do next in order to get some help. Thanks a ton in advance.
Download HijackThis, link
here. Double click on the exe and extract the program to where you desire. After that, double click the HijackThis.exe file. Hit ok to the first message that comes up. in the next menu, choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'. After clicking this, it will scan your computer. When it is done, a log file will pop up. Copy and paste that logfile in a post on here.
I would also suggest getting some spyware programs such as Spybot Search & Destroy, AdAware. These are very good and free programs that destroy alot of spyware.
Hope this helped
