hello everyone, I am a new member. i have met a very tough problem. Onecare has detected 33 details of spyware and virus in my computer, but they can't be deleted. There is an error occurring when I try to delete them. I have used AVG to scan, but it can't find the virus. I'd appreciate if you could give me some advices. Thanks!

Hi s-yli, welcome to SAF

Something is preventing changes to be made.

Please do the following:

- Download and run CrapCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/
Note: in CCleaner: go to <options/advanced> Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours").

- Run updated versions of Spybot S&D and AdAware SE (one at a time), cleaning all that may be listed.
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
AdAware - http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
(remember to update databases before scanning and to set Spybot to Imunize your system)

- Perform an online virus scan from http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan

Next, take a look at this pinned topic and post a HijackThis log here along with the Panda Activescan log, as we can take a look at them: http://www.suggestafix.com/index.php?showtopic=16053

Topic moved to the proper forum.

s-yli
thank you Ironbender, i have tried all of the method you told me, they have deleted the spyware. The problem is the spyware is appearing again, and apparently, someone is controling my computer. I feel faint.
Ironbender
Can you please post the logs I asked for ?
s-yli
sure, Ironbender, my dear friend

1 I download avg and run it, she can't find any virus

2 I download vnc to get my friend's help. But we can't solve the problem.

3 I run Crapclear It found a lot of changes in registry...

4 I run Spybot S&D and AdAware SE they all found spyware and deleted them

5 after all of the above steps I found I could use onecare then. She found trojan horse and deleted them.

6 Now all of my soldiers( avg, onecare, spybot...) is repeating the work of finding virus and spyware and killing them again and again.

7 to replenish: I haven't used panda software yet, because it's not free.
Ironbender
1 What AVG ? Antivirus or Antispyware ? I never asked you to do this. Also, having more than one antivirus running may cause conflicts and false positives.

2 I did not ask anything about VNC

3 Crapcleaner is not supposed to be run for registry fixes, unless asked to. You have just to run it to clean your temp and temporary internet files and cookies.

4 Good.

5 You are not done yet, You may have some hidden infection or some downloader active. We will only know if you post a HijackThis log as I asked for.

6 Idem above.

7 I did not ask you to use the full panda version, but the online scan, which is free.

If you want me to help you, please read the pinned topic I posted before and post the HJT log along with the (free) panda ActiveScan report.

Hi, Ironbender

Thank you for your attention. Please forgive me for delaying posting HJTlog. I have been fighing against hacker for a whole weekend, and I believe he want to beat me to death. More Importantly, I have a lot of homework to do. I just run panda, and detected two spyware. But i can't find the folder of cookies which the report refer to. Attached document is the report of it. Thank you so much for all your help.

Hi s-yli,

Yes, we really do need to see your HijackThis log before we can help you much further. It sounds as though you either have a Trojan that is allowing remote-control access to your machine via the Internet, spyware that is watching what you're doing, or otherwise some adware that is aggressively using your machine as its advertising medium.

HijackThis lists out parts of the system where bad stuff is known to lurk, and will tip us off as to whether any specialised fixes need to be run on your box.

Very often these days, special tools need to be used to get someone clear of bad stuff in addition to the standard tools such as CrapCleaner, Spybot S&D, and Ad-Aware.

If, as Ironbender said, you're using 2 different Antivirus packages, then you need to turn one off and go with the other. Don't use 2 AV packages on the same box. If that AVG was AVG AntiSpyware then leave it installed but don't run it again until we say so - firstly it may not be necessary (unlikely), and secondly it might even remove things that make the malware we're trying to find harder to locate, leaving you with the impression that you're clear when in fact you're not.

Please - follow Ironbender's instructions to the letter and things should go smoothly for you thumb up.gif

If HijackThis is being closed down when you run it, or you're otherwise having difficulty in running it, then try renaming it and running it again. Some malware detects it running and tries to close it down. I have updated the instructions in the tutorial to include this.
s-yli
Hi, Aognid. Thank you for your explanation. You are so nice!!!

Hi s-yli,

Please print this and follow step-by-step.

You are running Norton A/V along with AVG free antivirus. As I said before, please uninstall one of them and keep the other.

Do you know what this is ? C:\drivers\babe\babelee.exe

Download and run CrapCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/
Note: in CCleaner: go to <options/advanced> Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours").

Download and install AVG Anti-Spyware from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/20/lng/us/tpl/v5 - don't run it for scanning yet, just update it:

Double-click the icon on Desktop to launch AVGAS
You will need to update AVGAS to the latest definition files.
- On the top of the main screen click Shield
- Click the word active to change it to inactive
- On the top of the main screen click Update.
Then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

When you have finished updating, EXIT AVGAS.

Set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

I would strongly suggest you to uninstall Tencent-QQ from your control panel, add-remove software, as it's a risky application which may cause privacy problems along with some ad popups. If you want to keep it (at your own risk), do not fix the blue entries below.

Disconnect from the internet.

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

babelee.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

Close all programs (including antivirus and any protection program) leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.http

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following folders and delete them:

C:\drivers\babe\ - Note: If you know what this program is, and you trust it, do not delete this folder.

C:\Program Files\Tencent\

Exit Explorer, don't reboot yet.

Run AVG Anti-Spyware.
- Click Scanner
- Click on the Scan tab
- Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.
When the scan is complete click Recommended Action and change it to Quarantine, then click Apply all actions
Once finished, click the Save report button, then click Save Report As. This will create a text file.

IMPORTANT! Do not save the report before you have clicked the Apply all actions button. If you do, the log that is created will indicate "No action taken", making it more difficult to interpret the report. So be sure you save it only AFTER clicking the "Apply all actions" button.

Make sure you know where to find this file again.
Restart in Normal Mode.

Post back a fresh HJT log along with the AVGAS report.

[size=7]Hi, Ironbender. Thank you so much!!!

[color=#0099[size=3]I can't find the folder of /tencent/ in progrems and files, and I don't dnow What's that. I also searched it in my disk C: , there are no result of that.
Ironbender
OK, so, perform all the steps on my previous instructions, fix all the lines I pointed, delete the folders as I asked and post back the two logs as per my instructions.

I also have a question: what is the progrem named "cmd".
s-yli
and what is gems*4wwaccess appeared at the bottom of my screen
Ironbender
Hi s-yli,

CMD is a program which brings the command line window.

You did not follow all my instructions to the letter... avgas is showing "ignored" instead of "quarantine" as I asked. sad.gif You'll have to do it again.

Also, some HJT entries are still showing...

If you intentionally installed DIGStream, go to your control panel, add-remove programs and uninstall it from there.

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following process:

babelee.exe
Exit the Task Manager when finished.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against of this entry:

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.http

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following folders and delete them if still there:

C:\drivers\babe\
C:\Program Files\DIGStream\

Please make sure there is no trace of C:\Program Files\Tencent\ folder in your system. Delete it if showing.

Exit Explorer, don't reboot yet.

Run AVG Anti-Spyware.
- Click Scanner
- Click on the Scan tab
- Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.
When the scan is complete click Recommended Action and change it to delete, then click Apply all actions

We are almost done now. smile.gif

Download Silent Runners from http://www.silentrunners.org/
Save it to your desktop and run it. If you get a warning about executing a .vbs file, just allow it, as this script will not do any changes to your system. post back the log it generates.

Hi s-yli, nothing bad showing on the SilentRunners log. The system is clean. thumb up.gif

About this spybot alert (it's not really a problem and you can not fix it using Spybot):

Microsoft Windows Security Center AntivirusDisableNotify
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFEWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\AntiVirusDisableNotify!=dword:0

<Start -> Control Panel -> Security Center -> Resources (on the left hand side of the window – expand if necessary) -> click "Change the way Security Center alerts me". This brings up an "Alert Setting" window.

There are three possible alerts:
- Firewall: Alert me if my computer might be at risk because of my firewall settings
- Automatic Updates: Alert me if my computer might be at risk because of my Automatic Updates settings
- Virus Protection: Alert me if my computer might be at risk because of my virus protection software settings
It's possible that the third item is not checked.

You need to update Java to its latest version: Go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
Scroll down the page to 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6' and press the 'Download' button.
Uninstall any previous Java versions from Control Panel, add-remove programs afterward.
