compute.gif Greetings

Could anyone enlighten me on how I would go about posting a picture with the option to clicking the photo and it would enlarge. Do I have to save it in a different way, have a special program to do it, or what?

Thanks

Webster

Marcia
You need to have webspace in order to do that. You can upload a picture there in a larger size and link it to a post here and when you open it, it would be the size you put on the webspace. As far as posting one here....you have to follow the given size that is allowed or it won't upload here. Unless someone else knows something about the board software here that I haven't learned yet that will allow it.

beatsme.gif What I want to do is post thumbnails of a few pix from my files on the computer, so I can put 4 or 5 on one post. The thumbnails would be all equal to the 500 X 375 allowed, but then if you click them they would get big enough to see. Staying within the allowed 500 X 375 size. Do I still have to post them in my webspace first question.gif

Hi Webster,
You don't need to post them out there unless your pics are over the allowed weight (100kb). If you have a 99.9 kb picture which is 640x480 for example, posting it here will make it to be reduced to 500 pixels width, with the option to enlarge it... just like this one:

Webster would only be able to post one picture per post that way, Chris. I think he wants to be able to post 4 or 5 pictures in one post. I know some older board software you could actually have everything upload as a thumbnail picture and then click on the thumbnail and have it go to whatever size it was. The thumbnail picture was very small, maybe 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches. I personally never liked doing it that way and prefer doing it the way it is now.

Hey Webster (and anyone else that WANTS to do it)...thumbnail links are quite easy to do, and this board allows it.

Like this...

IPB Image

What you need to do, if you really WANT to use thumbs, is make a thumbnail of the picture you have. Make it small in Kb size too..quite easy using PSCS2 or similar imaging sw.

Then, host the FULL SIZE image and the THUMBNAIL image with someone like PHOTOBUCKET.

Now, in your post, use the INSERT IMAGE icon, and link to the thumb image on the host. Then, highlight the link it puts in the post, and then use the URL icon to link it to the full size image.

So it will look something like this in the post...except with the usual [-] brackets, and not the (-) that I used here to stop it working.
(url=http://img.photobucket.com/albums//Scorpion/lolzcat.jpg)(img)http://img.photobucket.com/albumsl//Scorpion/tholzcatsmall.jpg(/img)(/url)

Just repeat to add more images...only thing is, they will probably go down the page, not across, but that doesn't matter.

So, if you have a few pictures you want to show in one post, then it would be easy to prepare them in advance within a few minutes, then post them as described here thumb up.gif thumb up.gif

Thanks Scorp, I like the other way better, but this is also neat, especially if you want to add 3 or more images in one reply...

Webster, go to the Testing Post and check it out. don't worry about any mistakes, just do another Reply, and keep going until you have it right. biggrin.gif
Scorpion
Yes, the other way is easier, for sure......yes.gif...but 1 pic per post.

compute.gif Scorp & Lorraine

If I post thumbnails (once I decifer in my brain what Scorp posted, may take a while) will the post readers be able to click the thumbnail and have the pix enlarge?

LF from MC
Yes Webster, that's what it should do...just like the thumbnail image Scorp put in, of the little Kitty in his post above. Don't forget to go to the 'Testing Post' and if you mess up in a reply, just do another reply.
Webster
compute.gif Yes Lorraine that's what I want to do, I just did not click the Kitty that Scorp posted.

Awesome, you guys/gals are awesome. Now I have to concentrate and figure out what he told me to do.

You might think I had some intriguing photos to post, roflmao.gif

Thanks

Webster
confused.gif another question about the thumbnails, both thumbnail and enlarged pix of the Kitty cat have 391 x 430 pixels and 30385 bytes, now how come the thumbnail measures 3/4 inch wide x 3/4 inch long and the enlarged measures 5 3/4 by 6 inch long. I don't understand this. Shouldn't the enlarged photo use more pixels and bytes????????????? banghead.gif

also what does this mean in Scorp's post " host the FULL SIZE image and the THUMBNAIL image " question.gif

Marcia
To host it would be to put it on webspace. Photobucket would be the host to your pictures if that is who you signed up with. Image Shak is another host.
Marcia
I should have added....you upload your pictures to the place that you have decided to host your pictures.
Webster
Marcia

webspace? what webspace? I don't have a web page.

Marcia
You can host pictures for free at http://photobucket.com/ and http://imageshack.us/ I have some uploaded at

Thanks Marcia for the linkis. I saved all 3. I used photobucket and image shack but had forgotten the user name and passwords. So now I can start all over.
