hey everyone, i've got a bit of a problem that might even test the best of you. let me start off by asking for no responses along the lines of 'just get rid of it', that's only an absolute last resort. i just purchased norton internet security 07 and installed it ( i had avg before but i had a couple of viruses it couldn't take care of, so i switched back to norton ) and for about an hour it worked fine. i ran liveupdate and scanned my computer, got the viruses removed, and went about my business. after about that first hour out of nowhere the autoprotect just disabled for apparently no reason. i restarted my computer, it did it again in about 5 min. i went to symantec's website for help, none of the autofix things it recommends worked. i've reinstalled it, reinstalled windows, nothing. tried running liveupdate again and one update failed-COH COL white list definitions. i know a lot of people have problems with norton software but it's always worked great for me. please help!

That can be caused by a number of viruses, particularly rootkits that can hide from normal detection methods. Can you download and run SilentRunners, then post the log it generates.

BTW, Norton may protest at running a VBS file. Just OK it. Also, wait for the prompt that SilentRunners has finished scanning, otherwise the log will be incomplete.
