ok plz dont shoot me coz ive only got myself to blame ive been using a pc133 dimm in a pc100 slot and it was working fine for about 2 weeks, only had 2 remove the pc133 when copying files to my ipod other than that it was ok, when i switched on yesterday i was told system battery is dead replace and run set up which i did but to no avail, its still dead even with a new battery in it, i have 3 hdd C:win98se,4gig..D:winxp,8gig..E:media,20gig...
the bios only sees 8 gig of the 20 hdd but i could access the full 20gigs, now heres the tricky bit, if i boot into 98se i can see the 20 gig hdd in explorer whereas if i boot into xp i only see the drive letter and nothing else properties show size as 0 and used as 0 and theres about 15 gig of media on there, in xp it tells me to format which of course i dont coz i dont want to lose all my media so have i done irrepairable damage by using this pc133 dimm? can i ever get xp to see the drive? i only have the pc133 dimm which is 256 and i only have 1 pc100 dimm which is only 64 which struggles to run xp and apps my pc is old only a pentium mmx 200mhz when both dimms are in place my ram reads 320 so i thought that if it works dont touch it, how wrong am i? i have to enter setup each time i power on and run setup which is a drag but at least its working, just. any help on these issues is greatly appreciated thanx, neil scotland uk
