How about making a group of posters that don't have flood control when they're posting. This group would consit of people that are members you trust (like me) and love (like me)

I know flood control is there to control spammers, but us trusted, loved and wonderful posters would never spam.

So what do ye' say ye' mods and admins at SAF?

I got spoiled when I was a moderator here and didn't have flood control. I know people that have never had the privilege of being a moderator may not realize how much nicer and quicker it is to post when you aren't being stopped by the flood control thing.

I detest FC, but that'd mean a whole new category. I'll ask the staff for ya.

Thank you My Lady Dash. I know what it would require....I doubt that many of the posters would care to belong to it except the ones that post in the members lounge. When you're posting on the games and in the threads in members lounge is where the flood control stops you in your tracks.




Hi Sammy...flood control is when you start to make a post as soon as you've finished with one and it makes you wait 30 seconds before you can post again. If you haven't had it happen then perhaps you don't post real fast. Flood Control was put into the board software to prevent people from spamming a board.

Of course it doesn't stop me I still Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam and spam some more!

I think the people that truly help others that seek advice from this site are the real stars, the fact that they are there for us at all times make this site really special, the fact that others keep things rolling when pc problems are not showing (say's a lot) but with in this group there is always someone on standby to help at a flash with the real problems, they are kind willing and most of all very understanding never a bad word, but able to bounce the ball back so the other knows the place they are in. I also think the people that use this site respect it for them reasons, have a great christmas and a happy new year all and thank you for helping us. mike

Not that it really matters to me (Flood Control) but then we have some who are not controlled and many more who aren't and have to wait the time. Now I get this flood control thingy a lot in the Members Lounge. And I wouldn't like not being on the list of those whom aren't controlled by the spam protection. So................. we and stop them as they get out of hand or one rule for all regular members. Just IMHO.

it's the privelege of age ss but not chronologic age. like i've been here since the inception and if someone had suggested this when i was admin i'da worked my butt off to get it implemented. i think most of us long time SAF'rs consider it an honor and say thanks to SAF for trusting us.

and i guess it just proves that ya can't please all the people all the time.

In a perfect world that would be nice. The way it works if you don't have flood control on then brand new members that may not respect a board will post mulitiple posts in a very quick fashion. Having a moderator spend time deleting these posts takes away from the time they can be helping a person in need.

Spammers are people that make posts that are either advertising something they want advertised, or just a bunch of quick useless posts.

Don't look at me like that all my posts are very valuable.

Mrs. Bond, what a really nice compliment. Thank you. It's true I am in Kansas now and have been for four years, but one never knows what the future may hold. I am, of course a California Girl first and formost, as are you. I did visit there about a year and a half ago. If my memory serves me correctly, you are in N. CA? When I go to CA again I will see if I can make it to your neck of the woods.

I think that my sense of humor is a small part of me. I consider the largest part of my personality to be loving, caring, and affectionate. I am always hugging or touching someone. I have a lot of love to give and the people that are close to me get it whether they want it or not!!!

I did not mean the "Woods" in the literal sense of the word - I know Kansas is flatland. But I am old and waaaaaaaay back in my day, "neck-of-the-woods" was just a slang phrase for "neighborhood" or "area" or "location", and that is what I meant ..... "Kansas".

I am sure he knows that, Mrs. Bond..he was trying to be funny. We actually do have woods scattered all throughout Kansas. Not massive ones that you have to worry about getting lost in, but still they are called woods. I think it's more appropriate to say Kansas is flat without any mountains. They call these things here that rise up a little bit hills, but they are smaller than the hills I come from.

In case you didn’t know, America is made up mostly from the east coast and the left coast “AKA California.” The rest is just flat, or unused empty states. Don’t let the attached picture posted by our Kansan member fool you; this is what happens when you don’t mow the grass in your backyard regularly.
