Is your messenger 7.5 or Live messenger?

Some files aren't allowed to be transfer by the msn because they are potentially unsafe.

Try this;

1 On the Tools menu, click Options.
2 In the left pane, click File Transfer.
3 Clear the Automatically reject file transfers for known unsafe file types check box.
4 Click OK.

By default, Messenger blocks files that have the following file extensions:

.ade .adp .app .asp
.bas .bat .cer .chm
.cmd .com .cpl .crt
.csh .exe .fxp .hlp
.hta .inf .ins .isp
.its .js .jse .ksh
.lnk .mad .maf .mag
.mam .maq .mar .mas
.mat .mau .mav .maw
.mda .mdb .mde .mdt
.mdw .mdz .msc .msi
.msp .mst .ops .pcd
.pif .pl .prf .prg
.pst .reg .scf .scr
.sct .shb .shs .tmp
.url .vbs .vsd .vb
.vbe .vsmacros .vss .vst
