Full Version: No Sound After Reinstall Of Os
Suggest A Fix PC Support Forums > Operating Systems > Windows Me
Rodney
I reinstalled WinME on an older Gateway computer, it originally had ME installed and was working after a fashion. I attempted to do a reinstall and start over. Well, all works except for the sound, I no longer have any output to the speakers. When I go to System Properties and dig down to Sound and Video Game controllers, highlite "Creative SB Live Series(WDM)" and click on the Properties and then the Genaral tab, it says under device info that the device is working properly. I click on the Driver Tab and it say "Creative SB Live Series(WDm). I clicked on update driver and it comes back and says "The best driver windows has found is already installed". I'm at a loss as to what to check next, any suggestions? Thanks, Rodney

Hi Rodney, welcome to SAF

After a fresh install of Windows, you must reload the motherboard/chipset drivers, as Windows generic ones may not work as expected on all hardware.

If you don't have the proper drivers' disks (provided by the system vendor), please post the mobo make/model and we will try to find them. smile.gif
