I have 4 computers that were infected with a virus that disables the keyboard and the mouse. I reboot and I get as far as seeing the windows sign in screen and the keyboard and mouse crash. I can't get any farther on either. I've tried to re-install the backup programs but cannot use the keyboard or mouse to enter numbers or click on icons in order to move forward to install. I've tried everything. 2 of the towers are with a computer person but he's stumped he said on this one. He cannot get the keyboard and the mouse to work no matter what he tries. Both PS2 and USB have been tried.
Anyone ever heard of this virus? Is ther a fix for it? Help! Please!
The virus got through my network at home. banghead.gif

Thanks!

Hi lilacnsmay, welcome to SAF

Not so much we can do if you can't access the keyboard. It must work on BIOS access, as nothing is loaded during this process. Have you tried to boot in safe mode ? (safe mode prevents most processes to run, including virus)... if you can't, the only way is to boot from a protected floppy, reformat and reinstall Windows.

For now, try to access BIOS settings, set boot order to the CD-ROM first and disable any other boot options. Try to boot from your Windows CD and perform a repair install as explained here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315341
