Hi ever one hello.gif

I'm setting this Topic up, for anyone having problems uploading images, so you can test them out here. this way, it won't be too confusing when posting in 'Post Your Desktop. or 'Post your Computer', or other Image Topics. Once you can get it right, then you can post your images in the other Image Topics.

So just ask away, and we'll try to get you started. biggrin.gif

You can check out this post The Testing Post - OLD

It has some information, but like I said, just give us a shout, if you need help. yes.gif biggrin.gif
LF from MC
Here is some more information for when you are adding Images, and your Text goes on the side of your images.

You can add your information first, then with your cursor (I beam) at the end of your sentences, click two or three times. This will set your Image a couple spaces down from your Information, when you go to add your image.

If you add your image first, then after clicking on the 'Add this Attachment' go back to blank Reply, and click on the blank space two or three times, then add your information, this will put your information down a couple spaces from your image.

Give it a try, that's what this place is for. biggrin.gif

I'm not sure what you're trying to do....

power options properties page
Is this a program like IrfanView??

Are you trying to upload a picture so it will come here on SAF?? Just a little more information please, and don't worry, we'll try to help you.
sammy111
thank's again

what i wont to do only as an exercise is to be able to send images of my pc. for instance i chose to open up control panel then power options, then power options properties, once i have that on my screen how do i take an image of that and be able to send it to saf please i hope that's better lol mike
LF from MC
Ok I see, sorry about that.

When you have it up on the screen, push on the 'Ctrl' key and 'Print Screen' key and it should bring it up on the clipboard. (You won't see it there, but it's there) then you bring up your graphics program program or an image viewer, and click on the blank space, and and push on the 'Ctrl' key and the 'V' key, and it will past it into your graphics program or image viewer. Then you would resize it, and save it to your 'My Picture'

A procedure I've missed out on all these years, Lorraine? I've never pressed the Ctrl key, just hit the PrtScn key then paste it in Irfan. You can hold the Alt key and hit the PrtScn key to capture just the active window. I don't like any add-on programs when they aren't needed, and there's a lot of them out there.

Mike, is this what you're trying to show??..If you are, what image program did you use??

sammy111
irafanview

allfiles
LF from MC
Ok, good...

Now do it again, and this time before saving it, while you're in IrfanView, take your mouse pointer and draw a box around what you want to keep, You can drag the box at the top, bottom or sides to make it any size you want.

Then go to 'Edit' at the top, then go down and you will see 'Crop Selection' click on that and it will cut out what you want to save, then go to 'Save as' and save it in your 'My Pictures' again. Don't bother resizing it, the size might be ok, and if not I'll fix it.

EDIT: What do you mean by 'allfiles'??

You're welcome Mike, yes.gif

Now let's do some practice run, so you can get it down pat...

Bring anything up on your desk top you want, try 'power options properties' again if you like, then do the print screen, then bring up IrfanView put it on IrfanView, then do the cropping, and like I said, don't bother resizing it yet, then upload it here.

hows that setting anyway is it the same as yours
Ironbender
In some cases, a .gif file instead of .jpg will be lighter... rolleyes.gif

Also, you need to reduce the .jpg quality % to 65~70 when saving. Examples:

.gif websnap 128 screenshot, only 16Kb

The same as .jpg 60% quality, 34 Kb

this is gif fil...redused to 65% better i think,thank's chris..mike
Ironbender
The .jpg file you posted before was only 19 Kb, the latest .gif is 23.5 Kb, probably because it was saved as .gif 256 instead of .gif 128... to screenshot the active window to your clipboard without having to crop the full desktop, hit [Alt] [PrintScreen]
You will be able to post the full active window (+/- 400 pixels width) without resizing, just like I do. A full picture needs to be resized to 500 pixels, like this one, 60% quality, 45.2 Kb:

Here is a quote from Jim, I just found this out, and I'll edit it in the post above, I've had IrfanView for a long time, and I still don't know it all...

Nice looking picture you have there Mike, why don't you add it to your pictures. yes.gif biggrin.gif

You can find it in the pinned post at top..."Show & Tell Pictures And "Where Do You Live?" Just scroll down.
sammy111
thank's LF from MC

i have added to my pictures, i did not understand the way you suggested to do, you are welcome to take of from the other. than'ks mike hug 2.gif
LF from MC
It doesn't need to be deleted stargazer, that's why I had you come here, so you can do some practicing, this is what this Topic is for. yes.gif compute.gif

Practice all you want...Later on I'll delete some of the replies, but not for a while. So keep on trying.

EDIT: Ok I did fix it, so you didn't have to scroll from side to side, and removed one of the images, so keep trying biggrin.gif
LF from MC
You did fine stargazer cool2.gif

The words are in your last reply. biggrin.gif Beautiful Cabin
LF from MC
What a beautiful picture stargazer. yes.gif

Now that you are doing so well, why don't you start a Topic, and call it 'stargazer's Pictures', and add a picture like this to it, then I'll put a link to it in the pinned topic 'Show & Tell Pictures And Where Do You Live?' above. biggrin.gif
jimholly
Yes, thank you, I love the picture. So much color, and what a gorgeous pooch!
LF from MC
Adrian would be about 2 1/2 hour drive. yes.gif
LF from MC
I fixed the picture with the Blue Angles, but will get with you on that later, for now, let's check your picture of the path to Sasquatch, and the cave. laugh.gif

When you scroll down, you will see "who." on the left hand side, next to the picture, well, when you go to--> edit--> Full edit, you will see this..The Image code is right up next to the word "who." see below.

Guess who.[attachmentid = 2277]
Now to fix this, put your cursor (I beam) between the period '.' and the '[' and click two times, see below, then save it. You will see that the word "who." will go up next to your message where it should be, and the picture will be two spaces down from the message.

Guess who.

[attachmentid = 2277]

Give this a try...

June - On the post with the multiple images, just go into edit mode and delete two of the three "attachmentid=xxxx' lines....

[color=#FF0000]

hi i am trying to use the color, i highlight a word click on (A) i am doing something wrong as it wont color.... when i use my e/mail aol its fine but not here help please//mike
jimholly
When you use a tag, make the tag selection before typing the text. In the case of color, hitting the color button will bring up the color selector. Select that, then type your desired text after the {color=#FF0000} that appears. When you hit the end of your text, hit the color button again and the closing tag will appear. I do most of my posting from the Fast Reply, but I can still add color by typing the code such as this. Here's what it looks like, except I used the { and } instead of the [ and ] so it will show without making the actual tag.....

{color=red}such as this{/color}

You can do any of the other tag items the same way. Some of them are:

{i} {/i} for italics
{u} {/u} for underscore
{b} {/b} for bold
{s} {/s} for strikethrough

Now, I hope you're not totally confused. laugh.gif

(And, yes, this post was done in Fast Reply)

Marcia
Hi Jim, I do it that way, or I type what I want to say and then select the text I want to change and then click once on whatever code I want to use.

As Jim said,

{color=#FF0000}use{/color} { } these bracets replaced what you really need which are these brackets [ ]

Clicking on the red x in the upperhand reply box will close any tags that are open. [/ the forward slash right after the bracket is what closes the tag.

When I learned to do these things I did it all manually. It's so much easier with the board software nowadays.
