With all my new goodies, I need more usb 2 plug-ins. So I don't have get on floor to swap. Also getting short on AC outlets. Looking at this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817111402

Don't think I really need it because all my things won't be running at same time. Something more on the lines of a splitter, maybe.
Thanks bb

Can't have too many USB ports these days. I'd go with the hub. Plenty cheap enough, especially after the $10 rebate.

Yeah, but it runs out the 31st.

From the rebate form:

"This Mail-In Rebate is valid on purchases of the above listed products at participating retailers between 10/01/06 and 10/31/06."

All you need is to buy it by the 31st. If you order it online, the purchase date is the date you order and pay for it. That date will be on the paperwork included with the shipment. You have 30 days after the purchase to submit the rebate....

"REBATE REQUESTS MUST BE POSTMARKED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE DATE OF PURCHASE."

The important thing here is to follow their instructions to the letter, as with any rebate. Some will not honor a rebate if any one of the instructions aren't followed exactly.

JUst used pdfill to print out and gave it a good read. Here's a link to something that looks good, guy that gave to me added more info. Waiting on reply about where he got info. He said" no MB hookup, just use 1 usb port and power comes from psu?"

Wonder why I didn't think to just get an usb 4 port pci card? Yeah it's 20/20.
The above post. I guess to use it you have to drill a hole in case for cord?

Regarding the internal USB it's not unusual to have an extra internal USB port, some 4 port cards have a fifth pointing inwards or the board may have some pins for a front panel socket, or maybe your system has some front panel USB sockets and you could disconnect one to attach the internal hub.

One small downside with an added PCI card, if you use a USB keyboard you'll probably find that the bios menu only works if the keyboard is plugged into a mainboard USB socket.

Hubs are very usefull if you like to hide your computer under the desk.
