Well, I'll be closing the old 'Post your Desktop' it was getting too long, and start this new one. I started it off with Tecumseh Desktop, from the old 'Post your Desktop'.
Mine below...
EDIT: Our images have been changed to upload as an attatched thumbnail....
Any member, or new members not sure how the 'Attached thumbnail' works, I did a screen shot below in post #15.
When you click on the thumbnail, it will bring up a larger image in it's own window, and if you hover your mouse over that image, around the bottom right hand corner, you will see a small image with arrows in all for corners, and if the arrows are facing out, you can click on it, and it will bring up even a larger image in it's own window. Check out post #15 below.

Trying out the new image posting settings.....
Edit: This is nicer, because now you can view large images. There is still a size limitation of 75K on the file, however, so you'll have to save your .jpg in lower resolution. This image is at 65%.

Really slick! Also, the new forum format is A-OK; I must have been asleep at the stick as I took me a couple of days notice the changes.

You were just so happy to get back on board, when it was down, that's probably why you didn't notice anything

Well, we've upped the thumbnail to a 500 pixel wide size, just like the other board limit was. You can still upload a larger image, and the thumbnail will be clickable to show the larger one. I had to reduce this one to 45% to get a 75K file. You can really see the pixelation in the larger image. I think I'll up the size limit to 100K....

I know that this may sound like a dumb question to all of you but how can I upload a picture? I know that I press Print Screen but then what??
LF from MC
Sep 28 2006, 06:02 PM
Hi Jeannie,
Just copy and past it into any of your Graphics program that you might have, and save it to your 'My Pictures' then when you do a reply, go down and click on the 'Browse' button then go to your 'My Picture' and upload it from there.

Hi Lorraine,
How do I copy and paste my desktop? Can I use Irfanview?
LF from MC
Oct 1 2006, 11:26 AM
Yes you can Jeannie,
For me, I hold down on the 'Ctrl' key, while I click on the 'Print Screen' key, on your keyboard (This will copy your desktop to the clip board)
Next, open up IrfanView....Click on an the empty space (work area) in IrfanView.
Next, hold down on the 'Ctrl' key, while clicking on the 'V' key, this will past your desktop to IrfanView.
Then do the same thing you did when you were doing your pictures...
'Resize' then 'Save As'
Then open it up in your reply in 'Post your Desktop'...The same way you did your pictures.

No Icons works...
hey Jeannie you need to sort out some things there if I am right I see installer packages on your desk top. If so in My Documents create a folder and name it installed applications or Installed Utilities and then go to the desktop and right click these installeds and send them to
My Documents new folder. I like the green but shy away myself from green. Due to service in the military I guess. lol My Documents is renamed. Here see towards the top. Store ALL the crap you make, save, download etc in this folder for easy finding.

I like the 'no icons' look myself. Opening programs is no problem. I have all my commonly used programs hotkeyed. Quicker than grabbing a mouse since my fingers are on the keyboard most of the time anyway.

Greetings,
jimholly, how do you make hotkeys to open programs?
Sounds like a great idea to me.
Webster

Oct 5 2006, 05:05 PM
Right-click the shortcut that you want to hotkey, click Properties. You'll see a line there that says 'Shortcut key' with 'None' in the it. Click on that little window, then hit a key on the keyboard, and it will insert a Ctrl + Alt + (whatever key you entered). If you hit an F key, it will just show that F key. Click Apply, OK. Now, when you want to open that program, just hold down the Ctrl + Alt key and press the one you want (or hit the appropriate F key).
It's wise to have a plan when assigning these, that way it'll be easy to remember them. For example....
N for Notepad
W for Wordpad (or Word)
E for Email
B for the browser
I for Irfan
....etc. Once you get the hang of it, it's really quite fast. Just be careful not to duplicate any, or that letter won't work.

Lorriane, looks just fine to me... Maybe a lighter sky blue IMHO..
jimholly thanks I always wondeered about that. Worked well for me. But my keyboard has several shortcuts. I really never got into shortcutskeys because I thought look I need to remember something else so I went with Icons. I shall give it a try. I just think the mouse is better than alt+ctrl+w (for my weather utility) But like I said I shall give it a try for a while and see.

How did you get your icons lined up like that (some on the left and some on the right)? I'd like to fix mine like that. Would you tell me how you fixed yours? Thanks!

Jeannie, click on the desktop, then click on 'Arrange Icons By' then make sure there is a check mark in the box, next to 'Aligh to Grid' Then you can drag and drop your Icons where ever you want them.
