Heya,
I recently hooked my 3 home computers up to one router or network. My little brother plays a game called "Counter-Strike". I talk on MSN alot and use webcam, When I use webcam he complains about "Uber-1337-n0t-s0-elite-lagz0r" in his "DAMN GAME" (or so he called it on MSN :S). He says this only happens when I use webcam. So I tell him to show me... He gets into his game and starts playing with others over the internet and his "ping" is around 17...I go into my bedroom and turn on my webcam with a buddy... His "ping" jumps to 4,243 :O! So he wasn't just being a pest *GASP*! Anyways, Whats the problem? Is there a way for me to fix this? A certain port that needs opened or closed? Any help would be great! THANKS biggrin.gif!

Its probably a question of upload bandwith. If you use cable (as opposed to adsl) you will have a realatively small upload bandwith. If you are steaming video (which needs to be done in real time) and playing cs (also needs to be done in real time) you just might not have the capacity to do both.

As far as im aware opening ports wont really help. If you have a good router you might be able to prioritise the cs traffic as it doesnt matter too much if your video has a 1 second delay, but a 1 sec delay will make a massive difference in cs.

Just out of interest who is your ISP and whats you upload/download speed?

I agree. Most cable companies limit their upload speed to 45 kBs or thereabouts. I have RoadRunner, and that is its limitation, even though the download speed has hit as high as 850 kBs.
