We recently acquired a server for our 4-oerson office. We have laptops connected via ethernet to the server. They also have WiFi capability. I have noticed that when I create a VPN connection to the office server via my wireless router at home, sometimes I can see all the files and folders on the server and sometimes only the ones I have recently worked on. When I connect by right clicking on the icon on my desktop that VPN set up for that purpose, I get a message telling me I am connected. There is also an icon in the system tray sometimes, but not always (haven't been using this long enough yet to recognize the pattern of when it does and does not appear. Sometimes when I click on it, a dialog comes up that tells me I am offline and that by clicking on a button in the dialog I can go online. Other times the dialog telss me I am offlinebut does not provide the option to go online. Again, I have not been doing this long enough to figure out the pattern here. I am guessing that maybe what I have to do is first connect and only then will I be able to go online (an unfortunately confusing choice of terms by MS) and that only when I am both connected via the VPN (or my office ethernet if I am at the office) AND online will I see all of the files on the server. Is this correct?
