does anyone know if the 1600 series servers support DVD-RW's?

I have connected one up, to use as a backup device, win 2003 server sees the device ok and can read from it but won't write anything to it. Can't find any drivers anywhere and am scratching my head now.

A computer is a computer is a computer. I see no reason why you couldn't put a cdrw in that machine to replace the preinstalled cd drive. If 2003 sees the device and can read from it, you don't have to worry about a driver. You may have to install writing software or consider that the drive is bad. Have you tried another drive?
