when my mother bought this computer is came with an ethernet plug... it hasn't worked due to missing drivers... i dunno what the controller driver i'm looking for is... i tihnk it's a standard ethernet plug for dell

message in system information:
Ethernet Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1039&SUBSYS_01421028&REV_81\4&3B1CAF2B&0&40F0 The drivers for this device are not installed.

i am running my modem route via usb, but it's conflicting with my other usb things such as printer and dvd burner.

need suggestions on how i'd go about finding out what driver i'm in need of

thanks for help in advance

Hi duckgamer, welcome to SAF

We need the system model (assuming it is an onboard Ethernet controller - seems to be an Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter) as it may be a chipset driver...

In the meantime, if you have the motherboard and chipset drivers shipped with your system, you may try to reload them, as Windows generic drivers may not work on all hardware (this is common when the system has been reformatted or when a fresh install of Windows was performed).
