Hi everyone,

I accidentally disconnected my "Ralink RT2500" Wan card while I was trying to disable and unplug a usb peripheral rolleyes.gif

Then I tried to reconnect it but I couldn't find it anymore.
I searched for it in the peripheral manager but in vain, it is like the WAN card was completely removed from my computer!

However, I know the card is still physically plugged in my computer.
Is there a functionality in windows XP that would allow me to recover my card?
Or do I have to try to open the computer and physically unplug and re-plug it?

Thanks,

Jul.

Salut jul wavey.gif

It is possible that your wan card is not properly plugged anymore. Try removing it and replugging it again (do it with your system disconnected from any power source). If it still does not show, try a system restore, hoping that the card was not damaged somehow.

Salut Chris wink.gif ,

Thanks you for your fast answer!
I'll try it out as soon as possible and then I'll let you know how it is going!
Anyway, there is no reason for the card to be damaged (I hope so unsure.gif)...

see you soon,

Jul.

Have you looked for it listed in Device Manager?

Yes I did it... But I couldn't find it in the list smiley- confused.gif

Windows XP should detect it if it's correctly plugged in (and not damaged). Try adding it again via add-remove hardware to see if it helps. rolleyes.gif

Hi,

I just tried this Ironbender, the card is now visible in the device manager but with an exclamation mark "!" on its item.

In the card's properties, I can read: "This device can not start (code 10)". (Approximative translation because it is written in French in my computer rolleyes.gif).

I've been informed that it could be a IRQ problem... but it worked very well just before the problem occurs...

Any idea of how to repair it?

Take a look at the device manager error codes here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123

Reinstalling the drivers may help, or, eventually performing a local upgrade or reinstall over the top if it doesn't, as windows hardware enumerator will (in theory) be reset. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315341
