please help!!! computer freezes at start up at checking files. try to keep restarting ... freezes. had a message before Spool32 caused error in kernll32 dll. msgsrv32 not responding. computer is hp 933 running windows me

Hi theguy, welcome to SAF
Have you tried to boot into safe mode ? From there you can perform a system restore to a point just before the problem started.
In some cases, I've seen Scandisk being able to repair some FAT issues on Windows ME. (Set it to discard lost clusters).
Otherwise, reinstalling Windows on top (same current Windows folder) may solve this issue.

It will not even start up in the safe mode!!!!!! it says safe mode but will not do anything! thanks guy
