Iexplorer and explorer are displaying every single word on-screen one above the other, as if there is a return after each word. I have re-formatted my hard drive and re-installed Millenium, but the problem, even after a complete re-load is still there. Anybody got any ideas?

Welcome to SAF.

Are you sure it is not your monitor and/or video card?

hi, n thanks 4 the welcome. the advice was very much appreciated.

its definately not the monitor because the words were showing up one above the other on my old monitor as well.

im convinced its some sort of hardware fault. if it is the video card thats causing the problem, then how exactly is it affecting the words on-screen?thats what i dont understand.

anyway i have booked the computer in 4 repairs, n hopefuly everything will be returned 2 normal. if it cant b fixed then i wil be well n truly stumped.

I have not actually heard of/seen this one before. I would test it with another video card (or test your video card in another pc). This will tell you whether or not you need a new card.

Not sure what it would be if it is not the card.

hi efabes, just wana say thanks 4 al ur help n advice u hav given me.

i found out earlier 2day that my computer has been fixed and everything is working properly, so it is now ready 2 b used again.

They told me that they tried installing the cleanest possible version of Windows ME they have, but that didnt solve it. They tried installing Windows XP, that didnt solve it either. Half of the Windows XP package refused 2 load. Then they took out the motherboard n put a brand new one in, n hey presto !!!! computer was working.

Turns out that it was all down 2 hardware, n my computer is finally working properly !!!! smiley- thumb up.gif
