Hello again,

I have a small home network set up at home with one XP machine and one ME machine. The XP machine has 1 harddrive with 4 partitions C,D,E and F. The ME machine has two harddrives with with 4 total partitions, C,D,E and F.

On both computers the F drive is for My Documents and is named My Documents, the E drive is for downloads and is named Downloads. On the XP machine the D drive is for DVR Recordings and is named DVR Recording. On the ME machine the D drive (seperate harddrive) is for Pictures and is named Pictures. The C drives on both computers are for Windows and they are not shared. Within all these drives there are folders named after the drive, for example within the Drive labeled My Documents is a folder called My Documents, within the Drive labeled Pictures is a folder called Pictures, within the Drive labeled Downloads is a folder called Downloads.

My problem is that I can't access the Pictures folder on the D (ME Machine) drive from the XP machine. I get a message that says "V:/Pictures is not accessible. The directory name is invalid."

Yet this doesn't happen with the any of the other folders even though for instance I have a Downloads folder within the Downloads Drive.

When I change the name of the Pictures Drive I can access the Pictures folder. Any idea why I this isn't an issue with any of the other drives that contain folders with the same name as the drive?

Shouldnt the path to your folder be D:/pictures Try deleting the connection from XP Network and making a new one

I have deleted the network connection many times and mapped it again, I get the same message. It is V because that is the letter I assigned to it when I mapped it.

I didnt realize you were mapping to the drive. Can you get to the folder through "My Network Places?"

If the mapped drive letter is V then the path should be

\\{NAME OF COMPUTER}\D:

If the path is wrong you should not have been allowed to map to it.
