The ads they've been airing on TV make it look great - typical Anthony Hopkins stuff - he's phenomenal!

DIRECTOR: John Madden

RATING: PG-13
GENRE: Drama
RELEASE DATE: September 16, 2005

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by David Auburn, "Proof" follows a devoted daughter (Paltrow) who comes to terms with the death of her father (Hopkins) - a brilliant mathematician whose genius was crippled by mental insanity - and is forced to face her own long-harbored fears and emotions. She adjusts to his death with the help of one of her father's former mathematical students (Gyllenhaal) who searches through her father's notebooks in the hope of discovering a bit of his old brilliance. LoL im not very good about describing things lol, so I will do my best lol.
Sin city has a excellent cast! Depending on the types of movies you like....pretty much determines usually if you will like this movie lol. Its a little out there. It is broken down into little stories that all eventually combine together and make you go ooogh. LOL.
It does have some scenes that are gruesomely gross lol, and the humor is great! I mean some of it is just stupid lol, but overall I thougth It was a movie worth watching..even owning lol.
hereis a link to the movie.
I really enjoyed it

I just saw two movies that I thoroughly enjoyed. The first was "Good Night and Good Luck", based on the conflict Eward R. Murro had with the House Unamerican Activities in the 50s. It's a very well acted, tight-nerved chronicle of the war of nerves he had with Sen Joseph McCarthy, at a time in our nation when it was social and financial death to those who opposed McCarthy and his commie witchhunt.
Shot by George Clooney in Black and White to move you into the flavor of the times then.
Yesterday my wife dragged me kicking and screaming to see [another] Pride and Prejudice. I had to buy her dinner, she was right. This is a "must-see", the way that all those other films should have been made. It's rich in graphics, realistic in social settings of the times, and moves so fast you have to run to keep up with it. For the first time, which includes being forced to read it in Sophmore year high school, I really cared what happened to the characters. I never realized before that, in Victorian England, a woman's future could be non-existent if she didn't marry into a respected, financially stable family. Women were not allowed to work, couldn't hold jobs other than child care, tutoring, or servitude to wealthy families as house servants. The music for this film is incredible.
Anyway, my thoughts for what they are worth...

It was not a witchhunt. McCarthy was right. The US government had been infiltrated by the Soviets on a number of levels. Many spies were pretty high up.
The politicians who had backed the spies (the most notable spy was Alger Hiss) did not want to admit their errors and instead villified McCarthy. History was re-written to make everyone believe it was a witch hunt.
And so it went until 1995 when the US army declassified info about project VENONA. Basically Army Intelligence had broken the soviet code (on the trans-Atlantic cable) and had proof that most of what McCarthy was saying was true. They chose not to trust the elected officials with this information and kept it to themselves so they could keep more strategic info on the Soviets.
Even now, schools teach that McCarthy was crazy (among other things) and was on a witch hunt.
That ends the history lesson. Dont want to start a political rant...
Oh yeah, Batman Begins was pretty cool. I did not like the dark chase/fight scene at the end. I thought that could have been done much better.
