Full Version: Create new connection trouble

Hey ppl

I have a problem with creating a new connection. (running WINDOWS XP)

- I right click on MY NETWORK PLACES
- select CREATE NEW CONNECTION
- select CONNECT TO THE INTERNET
- select SETUP MY CONNECTION MANUALLY

--- now the next selection is the problem = the first two options (using dial up and using broadband) is greyed out and i cant select them. I want to use dial up. The modem's drivers i want to use is installed (new modem)

See if your modem is alive and well. Right click on My computer > left click on properties > click on the Hardware Tab > click on Device Manager > expand Network Adapters and see if the modem is listed without any exclamation points of question marks. Let us know what you find.

Hi ManDown,

First, try click "Exit", and immediately start the New Connection Wizard again.

If it does not work, backup your registry file, as if something goes wrong, you can restore it later, and try the following:

<Start/Run> Type regedit in the box.
locate HKey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP
Delete 25 and 26 folders

Close the Registry Editor, and restart the computer.

Tried external and internal modem (both installed drivers and was working fine no problem)

Will try that registry edit just now will let you know what happens smiley- now.gif

From the desktop click on Start > Run > and then in the Open field type the following:

inetwiz

Follow the prompts.
