hey my brother gave me his dimension 3000, and im going to upgrade the motherboard to one that has a pci express x16 slot, so it can use my x300 graphics card. i need help doing this, since i want the new motherboard to have my old ram, cpu, and etc. in it.

Here are my system specs:
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz 512 RAM

my ram is a dual DDR SDRAM at 400MHz

the thing im having trouble is my cpu socket type, which i think is a 478, but im not entirely sure.

now with all of this, i think the motherboard i can upgrade to, that uses the same cpu and ram, is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813157075

is this correct? or is there another motherboard i should choose?

You’ll probably have to replace the case also. Dell mobo’s are usually proprietary in size.

Then there’s the fact that more than likely the XP cd won’t work in a new Non Dell mobo since most of the cd’s look for a Dell BIOS.
