Hi eliyzfr600,
You may take a look at this resource, on how to add, remove or swap OS on multiple boot systems by editing the boot.ini file:

I am not sure if you are using the wrong term without meaning to, but if you really want to disable the bootup on Windows98 you are going to lose that portion of your harddrive that the Windows98 partition is in. By removing the boot.ini file you will not be able to boot Windows98, thus effectively wasting that portion of space on your harddrive. Is that what you really want to do, or do you only want the computer to have XP as the default boot operating system when you first boot, but with the option of using 98 when you want to?

You can go about this by editing the (time out =) value in your boot.ini file, on my machine I have it set to 10 seconds, in case if I needed to use win98 for any reason.
You can change this value to zero so that your machine will boot to XP directly, but I’d advise that you set it to a low value and leave it at that. In case your XP installation gets inaccessible for any reason, you won’t be able to access win98 as well.

If you want to switch to XP=1st boot, just switch the entrys around with the XP entry in boot.ini being in front of the 98 entry. The computer will then consider XP as the default boot. Set your timeout value to, say, 3 seconds, and it will boot into XP with almost no waiting. Of course, like Dino said, you will have to move fast to arrow down and hit return if you want to boot into 98.

thanks for the help, I have now set my time-out to 1 second. It now boots to XP right away. Thanks again for the advice.
