Hi all,

Short story... saturday, my 13 years old internet server crashed... bad disk.
I removed the old Caviar 1.2 MB HD and let only the 1.7 one running... Fdisked, reformatted, reinstalled Win98 SE, reinstalled all hardware, including the 2 nics and all the protocols, Internet sharing etc...

Everything worked fine, except two computers that can not access https pages anymore. (they browse the net normally, MSN no problems, AntiVirus updates, but does not access https pages)

Just for info, I have this old 13 years P2-400 (Win98 SE) connected to the net, and 5 other comps using Win XP pro hooked on it via a cabled hub.

It has a nic connected to the broadband modem via a crossed cable, a second nic connected to the hub via a straight cable. ICS is working via a dial-up connection redirected to a TIDPPPOE device (to avoid the use of a proxy). All other computers are connected to the hub via straight cables.

Nothing was changed on the 5 computers, so, no system restore.

Three of them works normally, other two (a laptop and a desktop) does not access https pages anymore, although they browse any other things with no problems.

5 days trying to solve that, no dice. Any ideas ?

Chris

One of these posts suggest opening firewall protected port 433 to get the secure sites to show up in the browser. In the browser you might be able to to to tools > Internet Options and lower security settings. If you are using a firewall, try disabling it until this is sorted out.

Hi zap, thanks for the links. Will try some tomorrow, as now my family is browsing biggrin.gif

I am sure it's not on one (or two) of the computers, it may sure be something on the server... I disabled the firewall on it but no joy.

Will try the other solutions tomorrow. rolleyes.gif
