If your up for a read of what happen read the below.
I haven’t bothered with it since it was beta and I didn’t have any problems with it. Now with the final build I had all sorts of fun with the raid drivers if they were picked up they didn’t want to work I would just get error 502.
If XP installed it went into a instant rebooting loop.
I did get it on once then my next problem was raised , I would install the motherboard drivers then install ATI drivers and reboot XP wouldn’t boot up I didn’t have the time to be messing around with it.
Now yesterday I was determined to finally get it up and running.
I downloaded all the latest drivers and went ahead and booted off XP x64 cd.
I still had the same issues again raid drivers weren’t working tried different versions and different floppy disks ( I had ruled out floppy out as the cause of this) anyway it would throw up error 502 so after to much time spent messing around trying to get the raid drivers working off a floppy disk I had enough.
Next step I integrated them into the xp cd and what do you know no raid driver issues after that.
Now I still had the ATI driver issue I have heard since the beta build of XP PRO x64 that my motherboards bios has caused issues with XP x64 but I didn’t have any in the beta builds so I hadn’t gone down that path yet.
Next step after doing so checking it would seem people with the same motherboard or model line were having the same issues and it all seemed to be linked back to the bios some people change dram drive strength to 4 and there issues went some it didn’t help I even saw someone saying setting the rams voltage from 2.8 to 2.75 worked for them.
Well anyway after reading that the latest beta bios seemed to fix this for people (this was 2 final release back) I download the latest bios and flashed and what would you know my previously installed XP with the ati drivers that caused it to reboot continuously booted up first go and is now stable.
What changed from the beta build of XP PRO x64 and the raid drivers enough to the final build that meant a bios setting would interfere with it I don’t know.
Well anyway I’m glad I have it up and running now.
