I have a question, and cannot seem to find the answer to it and it is a simple one I think. What is a USB Hub and what does it do?

A USB HUB plugs into a usb port on your computer. The hub has two or more additional usb connections in effect making two or more usb connections out of one. There are powered and un-powered hubs.
