Full Version: IE Keeps closing my browsers
Suggest A Fix PC Support Forums > Security > Malicious Code: Viruses, Trojans, Spyware and Browser HiJacking
Loopylou
Hi,

I have a problem when I use internet explorer. A lot of the time, if IE decides it doesn't like the web page I want to go to, it shuts down the window. Its proving to be very frustrating as there are now a lot of pages IE won't keep open. It will do it even if for example I search something on google, click on the link I want and the window closes so I have nothing open on my desktop.

Does anyone know what I can do?

I have installed spybot search & destroy, adware and spyware blasters and run them and fixed what I can. However the problem is still the same. Its getting to the stage where I can hardly look at anything on the net now sad.gif

Please help!

p.s. I have Hi-Jack this installed in case I need to show anyone a log.

Thanks

Lou smile.gif

Hi Lou, welcome to SAF

It may be a malware or some IE bug (this is very common, unfortunately).
I use Crazy Browser instead of IE6, and although it uses the IE engine, it never cashed.

First of all, perform a housecall online virus check from http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Next, post a HijackThis log here, as some specialists may take a look on it.

If you are unsure on how to do it, take a look at this pinned topic:
http://www.suggestafix.com/index.php?act=S...ST&f=15&t=16053

Hi Chris and thanks for replying so soon! biggrin.gif

I've just done the Housecall online virus check as you suggested and deleted 3 viruses that I didn't even know I had! Thanks for suggesting that its unbelieveable what get on your machine even with a firewall!

I've also done the Hi-Jack This log and its posted below:

Thanks again

Hi Lou,

I am moving this thread to the malicious code forum, as one of our specialists can take a look on it.

There are some suspicious entries in it rolleyes.gif

Chris
HKEd
Hi Lou...as Chris says, there are some suspicious items, but there's nothing malicious showing as running, so we'll go for a straight HijackThis fix.

Close all open windows and run a HijackThis scan. Put checks in the boxes next to these lines:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {0199DF25-9820-4bd5-9FEE-5A765AB4371E} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: SDWin32 Class - {4B1E188B-356D-428D-B7AC-296E6F341542} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ltzvq.dll

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5D39AD4E-DE44-4CA6-8DC2-60EDD09E3DEE} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddrawevx.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ZDFGNU] C:\WINDOWS\ZDFGNU.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ltzvqc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ltzvqc.exe

Click on 'Fix checked'.

Reboot and make all files and folders visible as per these instructions:

QUOTE
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Search for and delete these if found:

C:\WINDOWS\ZDFGNU.exe

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ltzvqc.exe

They may not exist, but delete them if found.

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log.

BTW, are you also Rheia? There's a very similar log on another site, but no replies to it. smile.gif

Loopylou
Hi there wavey.gif

Yes I'm Rheia on the other site but unfortunately no-one replied and my post had been up a week. I know people are busy but I thought I'd try here and I'm so glad I did you are brilliant!! biggrin.gif

I've done as you told me above and searched for the files but nothing came up so heres my new Hi-Jack This log:

You are fantastic thank you so much for your help... I'm all excited as I just tried IE and got on a website that it had been shutting down for ages!

Is there any way I can donate to this website as you have helped me loads! biggrin.gif

Lou cheers.gif
HKEd
That looks good now, Lou. smiley- thumb up.gif

We don't accept donations (thank you for the offer), but feel free to donate to your favourite charity on our behalf. smile.gif
Loopylou
Consider it done! biggrin.gif

I will however post up a link to this website on my website and recommend you to all my members smiley- thumb up.gif

Hi Lou,

There are a few things you can do to prevent be infected again (although it will not get you rid of all baddies, it will protect you against the most common ones).

Download, install and update spywareblaster from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Activate all protections.
Nothing more to do than keeping it updated, as it work on background.

Download, install and update spywareguard from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html

This will prevent baddies to make changes on your system without your permission.
