The computer seems to blink every 30 to 45
seconds. This only affects Windows Explorer although it can be
seen happening on every screen incuding when I am on the net. In
Explorer it resets the cursor location to the first entry at the
top of the listing, even though I may be several pages down the
list, and unmarks any files that have been selected. I have
searched for every kind of "ware" but found no problems, a full
virus scan also was clean. I uninstalled any program that was
installed just prior to this problem. Also have cleaned and
optomized the registry and defraged the HD.

Problem started recently

WinXP SP2
Dell 8300, 2.66
512mb ram

Right-click on your desktop, select properties/settings/advanced and monitor properties. Set refresh rate to a higher value (85 Hz or higher) and see if it helps.

Also, enter control panel/Mouse properties and see if there is anything changed there.

If this doesn't work, perform a system restore to a point before the problem started.
