Someone please help, My AOL instant messenger isn't working, and it's making me crazy. I have Windows XP and I used a Zone Alarm Pro trial to try and protect my computer from viruses, spyware, and adware, but now I'm having a problem with both my instant messenger and my internet explorer. I can sign on to my instant messenger, check buddy info, and edit my profile, but when I try to receive an instant message or send one, it sends me a message saying there is an error, and it has to close, and the program closes. Sometimes this also happens with my internet explorer, when I'm on it, it will say there has been an error, and it needs to close, then closes. My zone alarm trial has expired, and i have re-downloaded my instant messenger, and run a virus scan, but none of these seem to work. I think it may be a problem with Windows XP. Can someone please let me know, thanks again:)

Hi dharmastar3, welcome to SAF
Have you tried a system restore ?
ZoneAlarm is a firewall and will not protect you from virus or malwares, only from internet not allowed traffic inbound/outbound. There is a free version of it that works quite well.
If you cannot perform a system restore, uninstall ZA Pro. Download and install the free version from
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/comp...reeDownload.jspIf you are using any protection shield such as Norton, it may prevent you to access some websites/instant messengers.
Internet Explorer crashes are common. I use Crazy Browser
http://www.crazybrowser.com/download.htm and although it uses the IE engine, it never crashed.
