If your unit is still under warranty, that may be the way to go. If not, like r/fire suggests, please post the specs of your unit so we know what we are dealing with. smile.gif

Boot with the video card, mouse, keyboard, hard drive, and one stick of memory installed. Disconnect the CD-ROM drive, and remove all other cards from the expansion slots. Remember which slot each comes out of so you can put them back in the same slot.

Make sure all cables are firmly connected to the motherboard. Power on Self Test (POST) should give you one beep on a successful boot. More that one if not successful, and the beep pattern tells you what is failing. No beep may indicate a failed power supply or motherboard. You can pick up a power supply tester for around fifteen dollars.

If you are familiar with using a voltmeter you can check voltages from the power supply. If you do use the voltmeter, check on the internet for the pin-out for an ATX power supply connector. Of particular interest is the voltage on the power supply ready, or some such named pin.

Can you provide the make and model of the motherboard? If this computer is in warranty, I would not do too much tweaking. You don't want to void the warranty.
