Can any one help Please
I have a FOXCONN K8S755A motherboard and an Nvidia GFORCE FX 5500
My motherboard supports 4x and 8x with 1.5v
When i boot my PC it loads to the winxp loading screen, hits the pasword logon and cuts off the monitor, i tried a different card (nvidia 5200) it still locks.
When i change the speed of the AGP slot in BIOS to run 4x the PC runs fine, when on auto or 8x it cuts out at the same point.
I am also getting errors on my onboard NIC card stating it cannot find enough resources error 12, disable another device.
I have reinstalled windows, motherboard drivers and used XP pro, still no luck ( Havnt flashed the board tho)
Any suggestions? or is it a new mother board on order again
thanks

Hi dan_b, welcome to SAF
Do not reflash your BIOS as it's a dangerous thing to do and if something goes wrong, you'll have a dead motherboard.
Sounds like a driver conflict issue to me... Have you downloaded the latest motherboard and chipset/LAN drivers and utilities from manufacturer ?
http://www.foxconnchannel.com/productsDown...uropean%20ModelAlso, download and install the latest nvidia forceware Version 78.01 drivers.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_78.01.htmlIf the problem persist, enter BIOS and set AGP aperture size to lower or higher value (you'll need to test values to see if it solves the problem).

Thanks for the reply
I played around with the aperture size, and down loaded the nvidia drivers , still not working.
Im a little confused about the screen shot ive added, AGP bus capability says 4x. would this be the reason?

Yes, it's currently set to 4x... are you able to change this ? (I mean, if you click OK on this screen with 8x selected, does it works ?)
Just noticed the BUS capability is 4x, this is not normal, as your mobo maker list it as 8x agp capability.
If not, check for the motherboard link I provided before and download/install the latest utilities, as I think there is an AGP or graphic utility listed somewhere.

When pressing ok to 8x it asks to reboot. I set by bios back to auto rather than 4x and it still does the same
Still hitting 8x and cutting out
i downloaded the most recent AGP drivers and this is still locking

Your AGP Bus capability is set as 4x. This is probably why it does not works on 8x.
I think you'll have to contact the motherboard maker support..
Maybe some other members will add something on this
