Full Version: Hard Drive Not Recognized

I just got my computer back from having a modem type automated telephone board installed. Vendor told me that it was working fine. When I turned it on, it won't boot up. It gets the following error:

BOOT DISK FAILURE. INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

I then booted it up with a startup floppy, attempted to access the C drive and it wasn't there (didn't recognize it).

I went into the BIOS setup to take a look and there are no values for the Primary or Secondary Master or Slave Hard Disks. All four are set to the type of "Auto"

Any suggestions on how I might be able to fix this myself without taking it back to the vendor, who says that it was working fine?

In my point of view, the vendor is responsible on making it work... so I'll return it and complain rolleyes.gif also, I never take back a system from any vendor without testing it on site (and before paying).

It may be some stupid thing, like an IDE or power cable not properly connected, this may happen on "transport/shipping"...
