HKEd
Hi Pritesh...I don't see any malware running, but there are some startups.

If you didn't deliberately install WildTangent, uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs.

Run a HijackThis scan and put checks in the boxes next to these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] C:\WINDOWS\System32\kkkdp4.exe reg_run

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System service63] C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka63.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [pshower] C:\WINDOWS\System32\pshwr.exe

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://bar.mywebsearch.com/menusearch.html...?p=ZCxdm491YYGB

Click on 'Fix checked'

Reboot and make all files and folders visible as per these instructions:

QUOTE
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Search for these files and delete them if found:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\kkkdp4.exe

C:\WINDOWS\etb\pokapoka63.exe

C:\WINDOWS\System32\pshwr.exe

You need to update XP...your system is completely unpatched and you will continue to pick up baddies as you surf.

Angoid
Hi Pritesh,

Can you reboot into Safe Mode (by tapping the F8 key during the bootup sequence and selecting Safe Mode from the menu) and try deleting that file (C:\WINDOWS\ptb\pokapoka63.exe) again from there? Something may be hiding it.

Then rerun HijackThis while still in safe mode and see if any lines HKEd told you to fix have returned.

If so, fix them again.

Reboot to normal mode and post back a fresh HijackThis log.
LF from MC
Hi Pritesh,

I see you don't have SP1, or SP2 in your log. You'll keep getting infected unless you go to Windows Update, and install all available updates.

Hi Pritesh,

You've got two very nasty pieces of malware on board, namely Trojan.Elitebar and Qoologic.

Take a look here for further details on the Elitebar, and instructions on removal. If the instructions prove too technical for you, please don't hesitate to post back and we'll be happy to help out with an explanation.

As for Qoologic, please download Pocket Killbox and save it to your Desktop; please don't run it yet though.

Then download FindQoologic-Narrator.

Save it to your Desktop then extract the files from the zip into their own folder called FindQoologic. Open the FindQoologic folder. Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it. Wait until a text opens, then post it in your next reply here.
This is a "lo-fi" version of our main content. To view the full version with more information, formatting and images, please click here.
