seems like an ok computer right?! haha.. well, im having a problem here..
I recently reformatted my computer, roughly about a month ago, I erased everything completely.
After everything was erased i re-installed windows xp, direct x 9
then the drivers to my video card, and mobo, and so on.

my computers performance is soooo amazingly slow that i can click on a folder. and it will think for at least 15-30 seconds before opening the folder i clicked on.

this is driving me nuts. eeeeek.gif

i play counter-strike: source - when ever i change weapons / or if there is even a combination of too many sounds.. the computer will lock up for about 5-10 seconds then resume..

my computer, which isn't bad at all spec wise... is bottle necking.. and i can't figure out why?!

it sounds like its a ram problem to me.. but idk how the hell it can be a ram problem when i CTR + ALT + DEL all the programs i didnt need and i have 1 GIG!! 1 GIG!! of ram.. it's really odd..

i just need to know if anyone has had similar problems.. i know this is a tough one.. but im open to any ideas.. or any suggestions.. or a quick fix.. hell im open to anything..

thank you for taking the time out to hear about my problems..

Hi Scrooge, welcome to SAF

Assuming that you were not infected by some malware/virus, I would suspect on chipset drivers (have you downloaded the latest version ?) or on excessive services that are being loaded on Windows startup.

Can also be a RAM issue... Have you tried to swap and boot with one memory stick ? You can eventualy check it by using memtest, from http://www.memtest.org/

Hey Scrooge

Here is a link for the newest drivers for your MB.

ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe

Hopefully this helps. I would agree with Ironbender that this just might be a driver issue.
