I recently purchased a copy of Microsoft Office 2003 Standard Edition so that I could use Visual Basic to develop a simple Windows Application. I have very little programming experience. I find the Visual Basic editor I am using (via Excel) does not list an item called New Project in the File Menu as announced by Peter Wright in his publication Beginning Visual Basic 6. I am beginning to think it is too good to be true that Microsoft would provide a free copy of VB imbedded within Office/Excel. Should I be able to develop simple Windows applications via the included Excel/Visual Basic Editor, or is it there simply to perforn minor editig of applications generated by a real, independent, bought-and-paid-for copy of Visual Basic 6 Standard Edition?

Hi wtdaveyjr3, welcome to SAF
As far as I know, the VB editor that was embedded in the Office package is a Very Basic editor to create macros for Excel/Word...
If you want to learn and develop applications, you'll need to buy Visual Basic 6 or Visual Studio.

I think I'll have to agree with ironbender here. You were expecting more than you're going to get with the built-in editor. It's not meant for writing standalone applications.
