My system has crashed. I had a virus on it but I deleted it with some virus software. 5 seconds after I attempt to boot up, it powers off. I attempted to go into BIOS and change the boot sequence, but it won't stay on. Could I possibly have a bad power supply?

I have a spare 40 GB Hard Drive laying around and I'd like to know if it's possible to install windows XP on it by putting it in another computer that is working properly. I want to install it as a slave drive, put windows xp on it, remove it and insert it into my troubled computer. Is this possible? Is it a simple process? Can you have XP on two different hard drives in the same computer?

It sounds like this might be an issue with your power supply, not a hard drive issue. If the computer doesn't stay on even in the bios screen, I would definitely say it's something with the ps. If you have a multimeter you could check the ps, or try unhooking the ps from the motheboard. Turn on the computer and see if the ps shuts itself off. If so...change the ps.

Let us know if that didn't work biggrin.gif
