I have been utilizing the autofill function on Internet Explorer to automatically type in my user ID and Passwords for various sites. I am selling my computer, and have tried to disable this function. I went to IE properties and disabled it, but each time I go to places like yahoomail and numerous other sites, it still includes my userid and password on the logon screen. I do not want the new owner of my old computer to have access to my personal information. Please help.

Hi vip4bham,
There are two ways to clean up forms and passwords on Win XP:
To remove the Stored User Names and Passwords from your system, Click Start, Run and type Control keymgr.dll
Remove the entries from the list.
1. From Internet Explorer, choose "Tools" then "Internet Options".
2. From the "Internet Options" multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, select the "Content" tab.
3. Click the "AutoComplete" button.
4. Uncheck everything.
5. Click the "Clear Forms" button.
6. Click the "Clear Passwords" button.
7. Press "OK" to close the dialog boxes.

I tried that and it didn't work. I'm going to repeat the process and zap the cookie files and reboot. I shall post the result.

I tried that and it did not work. Userids and passwords are still being suggested, even here on suggestafix. i'm being automatically logged in. I'm not sure if it matters, but the suggested userid and passwords are always in a box that is "orange" in color. That hasn't always been the case. It started ocurring when I started trying to remove them.

Goto Start/Run/Regedit and then navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru
To prevent keeping a history, right click ACMru/Permissions/Deny all users and groups listed.
Alternatively, IE/Search/Change Preferences/Turn AutoComplete Off ...........
