Hey, I've had Ubuntu installed on my PC for about 12 days now (99% uptime, whoohoo!), and for some reason, it refuses to recognize my sound card. Furthermore, since it doesn't recognize my card, BOOM, no drivers, hence no sound.

Here is the link to the specs of my computer: http://support.radioshack.com/support_comp...doc52/52652.htm

Please help me, I'm a music fanatic, but I don't want to have to go back to Windows to listen to my music!

It doen't detect anything?

I'm not sure about this but you could try manually inserting the module snd-au8830

as root type: modprobe snd-au8830

after that type dmesg and see if it detected the soundcard if so paste what it said about the soundcard here...

what would also be usefull would be an output of the command lsmod

if your soundcard is recogniced you could try starting alsamixer where you could unmute channels and raise the volume.

any errormessages you get paste them here...
