HP PSC 1350 won't upload photos from card reader anymore. Haven't had this problem before. I have been uploading pics for a year now using my San Disk 128MB. But recently it would start to upload some photos than quit with the error coming up: check image capture device. It was able to print a proof page, so I figured it was still reading it, but now that's not working correctly either. A bunch of flashing lights of course green and amber to the right of the card slots. Their site warned me not to remove the memory card while lights flashed but to late. Card still reads fine in camera, and I'm able to take photos and delete still. I went thru the lovely online tech support at hp enough times, reinstalled drivers etc. They suck I swear I was talking to an automated computer, as both techies gave similiar responses.
Anyone know what the problem could be before I spend a gazillion dollars taking it somewhere to get fixed?
Thanx

Hi julesvern, wavey.gif Welcome to SAF.

I don't have an answer for you, but was wondering. Before you remove memory card from the card reader, is there something you have to do before removing it, or can you just remove it when the light goes out?

I know you have a photo printer scanner that you're using, and you don't need a computer to use it.

I have a Memory Stick reader plugged in my computer, and before I can remove the memory stick, I have to click on an Icon in the Taskbar to close it out first, otherwise it would mess things up on my Memory Stick reader, that's if I did it all the time.

You said that you removed the card while the light was blinking, so that's why I was wondering if you did this all the time.

Can you use your computer to print to your scanner? and if you can, maybe it might be cheaper to buy a memory card reader, and plug it in the computer.

I have a HP Photosmart printer, where I can use my memory stick in, but only used it once, went back to using the memory stick reader I have plugged into the computer.

Maybe someone can help you on this, so please stop back.

Thanx. I know what your saying as my memory sitck operates that way where you should do something before you take it out or risk losing info, but I've never had a problem with the card in hp, because you just remove it after the upload is over and the lights would be off. But they were blinking incessantly and didn't think to at least shut off the printer first. How much are card readers? It may be cheaper than getting my printer to repaired seeing as the printer, copier and scanner are working fine. I may also just look harder to find the wire that will connect my camera directly to my computer but I have no idea where it's at or if I even have it.

Hi again julesvern,

If the scanner needs to be repaired, you can ask what it would cost to replace the card reader before taking it in, or give then a call, because you know that's what's wrong.

I have a Sony camera, and what I did was type in.. sony.com ..In the address bar, and the Sony website came up, then I typed in the search box, Memory Stick reader, and it brought up my Memory Stick reader..and it cost about $59.00. Type in your camera make, and see what you can come up with.

Hopefully you can find the cord for your camera.

Do stop back, because someone else might have a better answer for you.
