My system running W98 is a PIII/512 mem/3dfx voodo/viewsonic crt. Within the last two months i've been getting, intermittantly, a garbled picture on the monitor with streaks and wierd colors. It is impossible to tell what's there. Yesterday it did it again and won't come back after multiple restarts. I know it's not the monitor as i have a winxp machine also hooked up to it. Any ideas? I have opened the case and re seated the voodoo card and checked all connections for proper seating. Also cleaned out dust with air. Thanks

assuming you don't have any nasties floating about.

i'd start out having the latest and greatest drivers for that v-card, go to safe mode and delete all your display/video drivers, boot back into the normal gui to install new or re-installed drivers..

and get back to us declaring the good or bad result..... biggrin.gif

Thanks for the advice. I'll try, but it's so hard to read the screen that I may not be able to see well enough to delete drivers and reload. I'm sending this from the xp machine. Also 3dfx is no longer around and the new drivers that are available are on some sites that look a little scary. I suppose if all else fails, I can pull the HD out and pop it in one of my ADS HD (usb) boxes on the XP machine. Then format and reinstall win98. and the original 3dfx drivers. Make sense?
