Ok, so my computer starts up, it gets passed the bios, shows the Windows XP loading screen for a couple of seconds, and then it reboots. Continually. It would go on till the end of time if I let it. I can't figure it out.

I noticed some strange lines across the screen and some funny behavior a few weeks ago. That was obviously indicative of something. I have replaced the graphics card, nothing. I have replaced the power supply, nothing. I haven't recently installed anything, no SP2 recently installed or anything. It's an Athlon system about 2 years old. Probably Athlon 2200 or so. I can't even get it to boot to a cd or floppy despite the bios being set to do so.

I don't know where to go from here. I can usually fix my own problems, but I am thinking I might have to take it in. I put the hard drives in some one elses computer and they were fine. So to recap, it doesn't seem to be the power supply, graphics card, or hard drive. Any suggestions would be a god send at this point.

wow, i'd be looking at the bios, re-flashing it. Maybe a mobo battery failure, I assume you know that the HW config settings are stored in your cmos. You have to get to a cd boot or floppie to fix any other issue.

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago. Drove me crazy. A computer friend says it was probably a virus that popped a kernel (like I know what that means lol.gif ). Anyway I hade to downlaod a set of rescue/boot discs for my A: drive (on my wife's computer)and reinstall XP on another drive and re-format the bad on. I lost alot of unimportant stuff. Now have a firewall and everything works fine now.
Hope that helps
