Full Version: Backup dead comp. to reset OS

AHHH laptop died and the ignorant people from the place where i got it say the solution is to put in the OS disk and reset my comp and at the same time erasing my data so what i did was put the HD into an external rig and when i went to acess it i couldnt i've been asking around and no one knows what they're talking about PLEASE HELP!

hey sorry man... new at this stuff

what im trying to do is backup an old HD from a laptop that wont work (will not let me login) not even safe mode works. I hooked up the laptop HD (with proper connections) to an external rig and when i try to acess Docs/Settings > Owners Docs it says that it is write protected... Can i bypass that? Man i need help any thing i should do?

Sorry Chris, if you do not have the proper password, you'll never be able to access it.

I cant even put the hd into the computer and do it from there?

Yes, you can... but if the whole disk or part of it is password protected, it will be quite difficult or impossible to read, unless you know the proper password...
