I'm having a problem and I would greatly appreciate some help.
My PC freezes a lot. It often (if not always) happens when videos, animations or 3D graphics are playing.
Usually, i have to reboot by pressing the (Restart) button, but twice, it rebooted alone, and then it displayed an error message saying that the computer has recovered from a serious error. When I sent the error report, it said that the problem was caused by the Nvidia driver. Btw, my video card is MSI Gefore FX5200. This problem happened to me after I set up Windows XP Pro SP2 on a new Hard Drive. The Nvidia driver version that came with Windows was 56.73. I unistallled it and installed the one that came with the VGA card (66.81), it didn't help. Then I unistalled it again and installed an older version from the Windows Update site (45.23)... same problem.
I tried to run the DirectX tests (DirectDraw and Direct3D), the PC freezes with each. I tried to set the Hardware acceleration to None, it only delays the freeze a few seconds.
I've really given up hope to solve this problem alone, so
if somebody has any suggestions, it'd be really helpful.
