RobVT:

Consider AVG free edition ( www.grisoft.com ) to replace Norton/McAfee--which does NOT make a policy of charging people for updates. I know I posted this on other Security Forum, but I feel it's worth a mention here. Can anyone tell me how this came in my OE inbox, although the e-addresses are NOT in my Address Book--and I never sent an email to ANY of them. Note the un-highlighted e-address ( xxxxx@xxxx ) is my other email, which I edited.

Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)

I've checked my address book--and NONE of these supposed e-addresses are in it.

Wingnut, I split your question into its own topic. Please do not post a question into someone elses topic. It makes it confusing to everyone.
Start a new one.

Re your advice, AVG does have a free version and never charges for updates, however, it is NOT a good program. In an independent test by wildersecurity, it only stopped 72% of viruses. That leaves a lot getting through. It did not do well in Interceptors pinned Antivirus test 2005 either.

If you want a good free one, see the links in my signature for Avast or AnitVir.

Re your question, looks like someone with your address in their book is infected by a virus. It is sending it out an email like it is from you to get you to open it ("what did I send" is what you are supposed to think, and then open it to see). I personally never try to analyze suspect emails. I just delete them. You can delete them automatically with a program like mail washer or with certain mail clients.
