Newegg has a promo on PC CILLIN from Trend Micro- $7 after rebate. This is an incredible bargain for one of the top AV/Firewall proggies out there.

NOTE: I purchased this a month ago, and discovered after downloading the rebate ticket that one of the requirements is that you supply proof of ownership of a previous AV program. If you have that you are fine.

Hi Ranchhand,

Is there a special link to use for the $ 7.00 final cost deal? I went to Newegg's regular rebate page, and the best bargain I could find was one for $14.99 final cost . . . ($39.99 Less $25.00). This $ 7.00 thing sound too fantastic! I'd sure be interested in a specific link if you happen to have one.

Thanks Much, Mrs. B

Hi Mrs.B,

Here you go: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=Go&DEPA=0&type=&description=PC+Cillin&Category=0&minPrice=&maxPrice=&Go.x=22&Go.y=31

Sorry for giving you the whole link instead of a hot button, for some reason the controls don't work for me in this particular forum. They do in all the others in this website. Oh, well.

Click on the $25 Mail In Rebate link on the left for the form.

Don't forget that it will ask for proof of ownership of a previous version of McAfree, Norton or PC Cillin. You can furnish the Serial #, photo of paid receipt, etc. Read the form carefully before you purchase.

Hello again ranchhand,

Fantastic! Thanks much for the info! No problem about it being the "whole link" . . . I don't care - I'm just grateful to have it from you. Gonna go check it out right now. Thanks again! smile.gif

Mrs. Bond
Ranchhand, I went to the link you provided and found just what I needed. Got the rebate form printed and am going to d/l the program this evening. Have my Norton "proof of ownership" ready too, so I am all set. Sure do appreciate your help! thanks.gif

WHAT DOES THE QUARANTINE FEATURE DO?
When you run a sweep and tell Spy Sweeper to quarantine items, Spy Sweeper does not permanently delete the item. It encrypts the item and copies it to the Quarantine folder where it cannot harm your PC.

Spy Sweeper quarantines an item in case you want to restore or delete it in the future.

Importance of accurate threat detection
Our home computer users rely on Spy Sweeper for best-in-class detection, removal, and blocking from rapidly evolving threats. You trust us to get it right the first time. Phileas™, our patent-pending spyware research technology, helps us provide you with the best protection against spyware.

One aspect of spyware research that gives us a genuine advantage over our competition is our extremely low 'false positive' rating. False positives are an industry term to describe a harmless program that has been falsely identified as spyware. This is frustrating for the user because until the false positive is corrected, the innocent program will not work properly.

At Webroot, it's our goal to maintain this low false positive rating because it helps you use the computer as you wish, without worrying if it's going to work properly each and every time.

Spyware Horror Stories: Big city spy games
"One day, I received a phone call from a photography store in New York City. The merchant was calling to confirm an order on my credit card for a very high-end camera with all the accessories. It seemed a little suspicious to him that the order came online and the shipping address was in New York City but my billing address was listed in Pennsylvania. I cancelled the order and proceeded to call the credit card company; too little, too late. All of my cards had been fraudulently used in the past few weeks. After unsuccessfully trying to find out who had hacked into my computer, someone recommended Spy Sweeper. It so happened that I had unknowingly downloaded a Trojan horse and someone had been watching every transaction. Spy Sweeper cleaned up my expensive mess. Now, I won't surf without it."

Hello, I am brand new to this site and totally at sea about my new PC Laptop. I am trying to find a program that my roommate has on his Mac that's called "Grabbit". It enables you to select a portion of the screen and copy it to a file. I know I can copy my whole screen, but I need to do a lot of presentations, and don't have time to crop out the garbage surrounding the image I'm trying to capture. When I do a search, the programs offered don't download. I'm also looking for a reasonably priced graphic converter and am looking for recommendations. Any help would be greatly appreciated. CLinChi

Irfan handles all I need for screen shots (with PrtScn button). Just paste into it, drag a box around the part you want, then click the scissors (cut) and paste. Save the result. You can resize and do loads of other things to it if you wish, too. We have a pinned topic in the Graphics forum on Irfan and many of it's unique features. The most unique feature..... it's FREE!!

We also have a topic on screen capturing HERE.
