Hi Suzie1950, welcome to SAF

Closed port may occur when there is a conflict with the modem access and another software/process using the same IRQ (interrupt request).

You may check first if your modem is properly installed (no conflicts), and what port it is trying to use.

Go to your Control panel, device manager to see if there is any problem with your modem... then, go to modem, highlight it, click on diagnostics, and try to run them.

Your modem will be installed on port Com3, 4 or 5 (personally I prefer Com5). If it is on Com2, it may be conflicting with your serial port.

Post back with more details, as we can try to help you fix it.

Try uninstalling. rebooting and reinstalling modem drivers.

I prefer COM1 (hardware modem). biggrin.gif

I prefer COM1 (hardware modem).

Trying to install a modem on Com1 on many systems may cause the computer to hang on boot or disable the mouse. Do not try this if you are not sure what exactly you are doing.
