Hi friends, it's my turn now lol.gif

I am "repairing" a friend's computer which is set to connect directly to the net via broadband...

I need to connect-it using dial-up on phone line. (seems to be easy, just creating a new connection). Problem is, this option is not listed, and when I try to create a new connection, the "assistant" drives me always to broadband or lan stuff.

The Modem is installed and working.

I have all the original XP Home disks. (and a lot of others too)

Any ideas ?

Chris,

Since I have never used WinXP [and don't know what's available] I can't offer any "detailed" advice.

But, I have run into "similar" problems with some Linux installations. The "automatic" setup just never worked but there was a "manual" option available which I used.

Does WinXP have a "My Computer/Dialup Network" setup ??
Is there any point where you are offered a "manual setup" option ???

Best I can offer, good luck.

Thanks oldbob biggrin.gif

Normally, XP have the manual option to create a new dial-up connection, but, on this machine, this option is greyed... only the network stuff is accessible.

Seems to be some corrupted thing on the OS itself... tryed a repair install but still no joy.

I'll probably need to reformat and reinstall all... (hopefully, my friend have all the original disks/CDs).
