Hi friends
Which program is easy to use to make a jpg image transparent
I've got PSP8, Dreamweaver and all the free programs except Gimp.
Thanks

Hi Sasol,
Best to do that is PhotoShop... but I can do it with Fireworks and Corel photo paint too... do not know about others

I'm not sure what Paintshop will do with that. To begin with you will have to use another image format. Jpg's cannot be transparent. Usually GIF will give you the best file size and photoshop is one of the best for making them. What portion of your image are you going to make transparent? care to show us the picture so that we may have a better idea of what you wish to do?

What i am planning is to put some golden (jewelry) letters on my scanner then cover it with black material and scan.
The letters has diamonds in it.
I want the scanned image to be transparent so I can add glittering animated diamonds in the place of the letters diamonds.
I am trying to make a animated gif logo for a webpage this way
When scanning I get an option to BMP JPEG and Tiff only
Can it be done without photoshop

Sasol,
When you scan you should likely go with either BMP or JPG. And you would use Photoshop to make the transparency but would need another app to do the animation. Personally I found Paint Shop Pro to be more user-friendly, and it comes with Animation Shop.

Dashie can take you through Paint Shop Pro. I've never used it as I have Photoshop and have learned it.
Question though, why a scanner for the jewelry? I would think a digital camera would work easier. Just a thought.

I dont see a macro setting on the camera but I will try both to test for sharpness (focus) thanks Nightshade

Nightshade and Dash, I scanned the letters today and the golden letters came out very dull even on 1200 pix setting, so the camera is a much better idea.
I took some pics instead and will save it soon on pc.
[Some pc problems here at the moment]

I use PSP to do it. You can adjust the transparency percentage and its got lots of other options too.
